
Rathke Sets Top-10 Pole Vault Mark to Open B1G Outdoor Championships

LINCOLN, Neb. -- The University of Michigan women's track and field team opened the postseason on Friday (May 15) at the Big Ten Outdoor Championships at the Nebraska Outdoor Track, with Kourtney Rathke setting a top-10 program mark and two runners advancing to Sunday's finals.
Rathke finished 11th in the pole vault, clearing a personal best 4.13m (13 feet, 6.5 inches). The mark comes in at No. 6 on the program performers list.
A trio of Wolverines ran in the 400-meter hurdles prelims, with Sidney Green's time of 58.71 seconds leading the contingent. Green won her heat to advance to Sunday's finals, while Sydney Kuhn (59.06) came just 0.01 seconds shy of qualifying for the finals. Sydney Glee finished with a time of 59.34.
Penelopea Gordon will advance to the 1,500-meter finals after posting a time of 4:18.75 in the prelims, qualifying on time. Samantha Hastie ran 4:24.31 and Sophie Cloutier ran 4:32.24.
In the 100-meter dash prelims, Keyanna O'Tey ran 23.05 and Myla Wilkes ran 23.38. O'Tey was 0.15 seconds short of qualifying for the finals, while Wilkes' time was a personal best.
Clare McNamara threw a season-best 44.34m (145-6) in the javelin throw to finish 17th, and Katelyn Watkins finished 21st in the 10,000-meter run with a time of 36:44.57.
The Wolverines will continue competition at the Big Ten Outdoor Championships on Saturday (May 16), opening day two with the long jump at noon CT.
