
Michigan Headed to Norman for NCAA Regional, Matched Against Kansas

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. -- The University of Michigan softball team earned its 32nd selection to the NCAA Tournament and will head to the Norman Regional to open play against Kansas at 5 p.m. CT on Friday (May 15) at Oklahoma's Love's Field. The game will be broadcast live on ESPNU.
No. 3 overall seed Oklahoma will serve as the host school and face Binghamton at 2:30 p.m. CT on Friday on the other side of the regional bracket. The regional round is a four-team, double-elimination tournament played over three days.
The winner of the Norman Regional will move on to a super regional against the winner of the regional being hosted by Oregon in Eugene. That regional consists of No. 14 overall seed Oregon, Mississippi State, Saint Mary's and Idaho State. The super regional is a best-of-three format, with the winner advancing to the eight-team Women's College World Series, scheduled for May 28-June 5 in Oklahoma City, Okla.
Michigan was one of seven Big Ten Conference teams to earn NCAA Tournament selections, joining No. 4 overall seed Nebraska, No. 8 UCLA, No. 14 Oregon, Indiana, Washington and Wisconsin.
The Wolverines (34-20) are making their 32nd NCAA Tournament appearance (1992-93, '95-2022, '24-26) and 30th in the last 31 years. Michigan is 91-27 all-time in NCAA Regional play and has won 18 regional titles.
