LINCOLN, Neb. -- The University of Michigan women's track and field team closed out the weekend at the Big Red Classic on Saturday (April 18) at the Nebraska Outdoor Track.
In the shot put, Elizabeth Tapper finished fourth with a mark of 16.52 meters (54 feet, 2.5 inches) while Abigail Russell finished just behind her in fifth (16.39m/53-9.25). Trinity Franklin threw for 15.06m (49-5) to finish 12th and Janey Campbell threw for 14.10m (46-3.25) to finish 15th.
Russell also placed second in the discus throw with a mark of 52.94m (173-8). Gabriella Newman finished fifth in the high jump after clearing 1.65m (5-5).
U-M will head to Philadelphia, Pa., for the Penn Relays from Thursday through Saturday, April 23-25, at Franklin Field.
