ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The University of Michigan women's track and field team turned in a series of strong performances Friday (April 17), highlighted by multiple personal bests as the Wolverines split competition between the Wake Forest Invitational and the Big Red Classic.
Wake Forest Invitational
In her 400-meter dash debut, Emmry Ross ran 54.32 to come 0.38 seconds shy of the No. 10 mark on the program performance list.
Coraline Haggarty recorded a personal best time of 4:23.23 in the 1,500-meter open section and Alyna Lewis posted a time of 4:28.31. In the 1,500-meter invite section, Samantha Hastie ended with a time of 4:15.18.
Brooke Johnston set a personal best time of 16:20.18 in the 5,000-meter run invite section and Anjali Hocker Singh shaved more than 20 seconds of her previous best with a time of 16:24.14. Gabbie Michael also posted a personal best time (16:39.85), while Sophie Cloutier finished with a time of 17:11.42.
Big Red Classic
Maya Anderson finished fourth in the long jump with a mark of 5.82m (19-1.75), while Janey Campbell finished 21st in the hammer throw with a mark of 44.94m (147-5).
In the pole vault, Kourtney Rathke and Iliana Downing both cleared 3.91m (12-10). Rathke tied for second and Downing placed fourth.
Michigan will wrap up competition Saturday (April 18) at the Big Red Classic, with events beginning at 1 p.m. CT.
