ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The University of Michigan men's golf team will wrap up its regular season this weekend, traveling to Bloomington, Ind., for Indiana's Hoosier Collegiate Invitational on Saturday and Sunday (April 18–19). The two-day, 54-hole event will feature a 15-team field, with 10 Big Ten teams, competing at the Pfau Golf Course on the IU campus. The course will play to a par 71 and stretch 7,355 yards, providing a final test before postseason play begins.
Notes
• After last year's Hoosier Collegiate Invite was canceled due to weather, Michigan last played in the 2024 event, finishing sixth, led by Will Anderson (t-13th) and Hunter Thomson (t-25th) with top-25 individual finishes.
• The Hoosier Collegiate Invitational features a 15-team field: Ball State, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Little Rock, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, Northern Illinois, Northwestern, Ohio State, Purdue, Rutgers, Toledo and Wisconsin.
• Michigan will send five starters and one individual to Indiana's home event. Sophomores RJ Arone, Dean Muratore, Nilay Naik and Johnny Solis, along with freshman Jordan Hwang, will make up the starting lineup, while redshirt junior Jason Gordon will compete as an individual.
• Through nine regular-season events, Michigan has recorded 58 sub-par rounds and carries a 72.42 team individual scoring average. The Wolverines are averaging 283.92 per team round, with 16 of their 26 team scores coming in under par.
• Michigan has recorded 20 sub-par 54-hole totals this season and is averaging 216.90 for three-round events, just under a stroke over par. Highlighting that stretch is Muratore's program-record 196 (-14) at the Jim DeLapa Collegiate, marking just the second sub-200 total in school history. Arone leads U-M with six sub-par 54-hole finishes, while Muratore is close behind with five.
• Arone has 19 of his 26 rounds at or below par and leads the Wolverines with a 70.46 stroke average, just ahead of Muratore (70.77). He has seven sub-par totals (six 54-holes) and one even-par total in nine events this season, along with six top-15 finishes. Carrying a 211.50 54-hole average, Arone recorded a career-low 205 (-11) at the Island Resort Intercollegiate.
• Just behind, Muratore has 18 of his 26 rounds at or below par and ranks just behind Arone with a 70.77 scoring average. He fired a career-low 64 (-6) in the second round of the Jim DeLapa Collegiate en route to his first career individual title and program record 196 (-14) total. Muratore has added five sub-par 54-hole totals this season and owns a 210.88 average.
• As consistent as they come, Naik has made an immediate impact for the Wolverines after transferring. He is averaging 72.19 strokes per round with seven sub-par rounds and five at even par. One of three Wolverines to start all nine events, Naik has recorded three under-par 54-hole totals, highlighted by a career-low 208 (-8) in his Michigan debut at the Island Resort Intercollegiate.
• In his first season, Hwang has continued to impress, starting eight events and playing in all nine. He is averaging 72.96 per round and has posted eight sub-par rounds, including a career-low 67 (-5) in the second round of the Island Resort Intercollegiate, his first collegiate event. Overall, Hwang has three under-par 54-hole totals this season, with a career-best 212 (-1) at the Moraine Intercollegiate.
