
Wolverines to Continue West for Two-Game Convergence Tournament

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The No. 11-ranked University of Michigan water polo program travels to Claremont, Calif., to compete in the Convergence Tournament, hosted by Cal State Fullerton. The Wolverines (13-7) will open the weekend against No. 3-ranked USC (13-2) on Friday (March 6) at 2 p.m. PT at Haldeman Pool before facing host Cal State Fullerton (11-21) on Saturday (March 7) at 11 a.m. PT at Titan Aquatics Center. Notes
• The Wolverines continue play out west after a four-day stretch of non-conference games over spring break. Michigan went 3-1 during the trip, defeating Biola University and Concordia University Irvine.
• Michigan enters the weekend ranked No. 11 in the CWPA poll, marking the third straight week the Wolverines have moved up in the rankings.
• Ari Karampetsou had a 14-point weekend during Michigan's spring break games, recording 11 goals and four assists while adding five steals and four drawn exclusions on the defensive end.
• Karampetsou leads the Wolverines in scoring this season with 66 points.
• Emma Gustafsson also totaled 14 points over the four-game stretch with nine goals and six assists. She scored three goals and added two assists in the victory over UC San Diego.
• Gustafsson has scored 34 goals this season and is approaching her 2025 season total of 49 goals.
• Sophia Bunnell started all four games in goal over spring break, making 40 saves. She enters the weekend after earning CWPA Defensive Player of the Week honors in back-to-back weeks.
• Emilia Mladjan continues to be a strong presence defensively and leads the team with 31 exclusions drawn this season.
• USC holds a 9-0 all-time record against Michigan, with the most recent meeting coming last season when the Trojans defeated the Wolverines, 18-7.
• Saturday's matchup will mark the second meeting this season between Michigan and Cal State Fullerton. The Wolverines won the first contest, 18-8.
