ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The University of Michigan women's track and field team opened the weekend at a pair of meets on Friday (March 27), setting three top-10 program marks at the Hurricane Collegiate Invitational at Cobb Stadium and the Raleigh Relays at the Paul Derr Track and Field Facility.
Hurricane Collegiate Invitational
Abigail Russell moved up to No. 6 on the discus program performers list, winning with a personal-best mark of 54.09 meters (177 feet, 5 inches).
Maya Anderson cracked the program performers list at No. 9 in the long jump, finishing eighth with a mark of 5.98m (19-7.5).
Freshman Janey Campbell threw a personal-best 45.23m (148-4) in the hammer throw to finish 10th.
Raleigh Relays
Samantha Hastie placed ninth in the 1,500-meter run with a personal-best time of 4:12.59, posting the No. 6 time on the program performers list. Penelopea Gordon finished 16th with a season-best time of 4:16.08, while Hannah Pricco finished 29th with a personal-best time of 4:20.16. In her outdoor debut, Emmry Ross placed 45th in the 1,500-meter run with a time of 4:23.70.
Brooke Johnston took fourth in her heat in the 5,000-meter run (16:24.74), with Anjali Hocker Singh posting a personal-best time of 16:47.07. Sophie Cloutier made her outdoor debut with a time of 17:03.42.
To close the weekend, the Wolverines will compete at both the Hurricane Collegiate Invitational in Miami and the Raleigh Relays on Saturday (March 28). In Miami, action will start with the 800-meter run at 9 a.m.; in Raleigh, events will begin with the javelin throw at noon.
