Bauman Named Big Ten Specialist of the Year

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. -- Graduate student Carly Bauman of the University of Michigan women's gymnastics team was named the 2026 Big Ten Specialist of the Year on Saturday (March 21).
In just its second year as a conference award, Bauman joins Sage Kellerman of Michigan State as the only two recipients of the honor.
Bauman most recently earned her fourth Big Ten nod as she received her third first-team All-Big Ten honor and was a second team honoree in 2023. Bauman competed on three events in her sixth season and took home 10 individual event titles, including two on uneven bars, two on balance beam and six on floor exercise.
She notched Big Ten Specialist of the Week honors twice this season to bring her career total to five, while she recorded 14 scores of 9.900 or better -- including seven of her last eight routines on floor to close out the regular season. Bauman was named an AAI Award Finalist on Wednesday (March 18); she has also recorded a career-best 9.975 on all three of her events, including one time on floor in 2026.
