
Michigan to Continue Non-Conference Play at Arizona State Invitational

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The No. 17-ranked University of Michigan water polo team (0-3) will continue its 2026 season this weekend, traveling to Tempe, Ariz., to compete at the Arizona State Invitational at the Mona Plummer Aquatic Center. Michigan will start the two-game tournament weekend on Saturday (Jan. 24), when the Wolverines take on No. 7-ranked Loyola Marymount (2-0) at 10 a.m. MT. Michigan will then compete against tournament host, No. 11-ranked ASU (0-0), on Sunday (Jan. 25) at 9:45 a.m. MT.
Notes
• The Wolverines started their season at Fresno State's Polopalooza (Jan. 14-15). Despite conceding all three matches, the Wolverines kept the games close, with Hawaii winning by just one goal.
• Sophomore Ari Karampetsou wasted no time in making an impact for Michigan. She currently leads the team in scoring with seven goals and handing out one assist. She is tied with senior Riley Chapple (five goals, three assists) and junior Emma Gustafsson (six goals, two assists) for the team lead in points.
• Harriet Dickens also stood out for U-M, with a team-leading four assists on the weekend. She was also responsible for three goals, following just behind the team leaders with seven total points to start the season.
• Senior captain Brooke Ingram had two multi-goal performances. She had a hat trick in the opener against Fresno State and scored twice against Cal.
• Emilia Mladjan drew a team-high nine exclusions, including four against Fresno State, just ahead of Lulu Hirschfeld (seven) and Karampetsou (six).
• Transfer goalkeeper Victoria Ridhalgh made her first Michigan start on Sunday (Jan. 18) against Hawaii, stopping seven shots with two steals in her debut. Freshman Maya Mladjan was the only other Wolverine to debut for the team the past weekend.
• The Wolverines will face Arizona State for the first time since 2024, when they defeated the Sun Devils 9-8.
