ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The University of Michigan rowing program earned a bid to the 2025 NCAA Rowing Championships, the NCAA announced on Tuesday (May 20). Following the team's 212-point third-place finish at the Big Ten Championship on Sunday (May 18), the Wolverines secured their spot in the championship regatta.
This year's NCAA Championship races will take place at Lake Carnegie, home of the Princeton Tigers, in West Windsor, N.J., over three days from Friday to Sunday, May 30-June 1. It is the fourth time this location will hold the championship event and the first time since 2017. Michigan's best NCAA finish as a program took place at Lake Carnegie, a second-place showing in 2012.
U-M is one of 13Â programs to be awarded an at-large selection to the field of 22 teams. The Big Ten Champion, Washington, earned the conference's automatic bid. The selection marks Michigan's 17th straight postseason bid.
Competition includes the first varsity eight, the second varsity eight and the first varsity four events. The three championship boats from each school will compete for individual national titles while earning points toward the overall team championship.
The Wolverines enter the event seeded No. 8Â in the first eight, No. 14Â in the second eight, and No. 9Â in the first four.
The team will travel to New Jersey in the coming week to begin preparations for the championship regatta later this month.
