INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. -- The No. 10-ranked University of Michigan rowing program saw four of its student-athletes named to the All-Big Ten Conference team following its third-place finish at the Big Ten Championship this weekend (May 17-18). First-team honors were awarded to seniors Katie Easton and Gabrielle Graves, while second-team honorees included graduate student Leia Till and sophomore Amy Newton.
Easton earns her third All-Big Ten honors, while Graves receives her second. Till, a two-time All-ACC honoree before transferring to Michigan, receives her first All-Big Ten honors alongside Newton. Each is a member of U-M's 1V8, which earned bronze during Sunday's Big Ten Championship grand finals to secure 81 points en route to the team's third-place 212-point performance.
A member of the U-M 1V8 since her freshman year, Easton earned her third All-Big Ten honors following a senior season where she rowed mostly from the stroke seat of the first varsity eight boat. A Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association preseason All-American, Easton's performance this weekend marked her fourth time medaling with the 1V8 at the conference regatta (2022, silver; 2023, gold; 2024, gold).
Graves, a key 1V8 rower, has also been a member of the boat since her freshman year and earned All-Big Ten honors for a second time (second team, 2023). Graves rowed in the second, fourth and fifth seats of the U-M first eight throughout the season.
Till, a graduate student who transferred to U-M before the 2024-25 season from Virginia, made an immediate impact on the team's 1V8. Rowing in the boat's first four seats throughout the season, Till proved to be an important addition to the roster. She captured a bronze medal in her lone appearance at the Big Ten Championship.
The only non-senior honoree, Newton rowed from the 2V8 in the season's opening races at the Big Ten/Ivy Dust Up before becoming a 1V8 rower for the remainder of the year. Newton became a staple of the sixth seat in the U-M first eight throughout the season. A member of the 2V8 during her freshman year, Newton is a first-time All-Big Ten honoree.
The team's sportsmanship honoree is Ally Blomquist.
Big Ten champion Washington is the conference's only automatic qualifier for the NCAA Championships (May 30–June 1), to be held at Lake Carnegie in West Windsor, N.J., later this month. The Wolverines will await the NCAA selection announcement on Tuesday (May 20).
