
Bauman Named WCGA Regional Gymnast of the Year

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio -- University of Michigan graduate student Carly Bauman was named the Women's Collegiate Gymnastics Association Northeast Regional Gymnast of the Year Wednesday (April 9).
Bauman is the 10th Michigan gymnast named Regional Gymnast of the Year as a Wolverine has won the award for the last nine seasons dating back to 2017.
The graduate student is the top-ranked gymnast in the Northeast region in all three of her events as she leads the region on the bars with a National Qualifying Score of 9.990, ranks first in the region on the beam with an NQS of 9.895 and is first on floor exercise with an NQS of 9.915. She was the co-regional champion on the uneven bars with a 9.950.
Bauman earned her third Big Ten Conference, being named first team All-Big Ten for the second straight year after earning second-team honors in 2023. The West Des Moines, Iowa, native was a three-time Big Ten Specialist of the Week and has won 14 individual event titles this season while adding 17 scores of 9.900 or better. Bauman has recorded career highs on all three events, posting a career-high 9.950 on floor at the Big Ten Championships and a 9.975 on uneven bars and beam this season. Bauman ranks sixth in the Big Ten on floor and seventh on the uneven bars and beam.
Outside the gym, Bauman is pursuing a Master of Molecular, Cellular and Developmental Biology after earning her bachelor's degree in biology, health and science.
