ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The University of Michigan women's track and field team competed in a pair of meets on Friday (April 18), concluding the Wake Forest Invitational at Ketner Stadium and opening the Tom Jones Invitational hosted by Florida at Percy Beard Track.
Wake Forest Invitational
Stephanie Bertram (4:24.39) and Lisa Luecke (4:34.42) logged personal bests in the 1,500-meter run open section, finishing fourth and 31st, respectively.
In the 1,500-meter run invite section, Samantha Hastie led a trio of Wolverines with a personal-best time of 4:15.95 to finish 18th. Hastie's time was just 0.86 seconds shy of the No. 10 time on the program performers list. Rylee Tolson placed 38th (4:23.74) and Penelopea Gordon finished 40th with a season-best time of 4:23.99.
Alyna Lewis led a contingent of Wolverines in the 800-meter run open section, finishing eighth with a personal-best time of 2:08.51. Coraline Haggarty finished 19th (2:10.34) while Hannah Pricco (2:10.89) and Lucy Petee (2:11.22) finished 21st and 22nd, respectively. Pricco posted a personal-best performance, and Petee posted a season best.
Tom Jones Invitational
Payton Smith finished 10th in the 200-meter dash with a time of 23.75 seconds to come just 0.04 shy of her personal best.
Savannah Sutherland won the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 53.46, just 0.20 short of her personal-best and program-record time of 53.26.
Michigan will close out the Tom Jones Invitational on Saturday (April 19) at Percy Beard Track, starting the day at 9:45 a.m. with the 100-meter dash.
