
Wolverines to Split Between Wake Forest Invitational, Tom Jones Memorial Invitational

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The University of Michigan women's track and field team will split between a pair of meets this weekend, heading to Winston-Salem, N.C., for the Wake Forest Invitational on Thursday and Friday (April 17-18) and Gainesville, Fla., for the Tom Jones Memorial Invitational on Friday and Saturday (April 18-19).
Notes
• The Wolverines will send the distance squad to Wake Forest, and the rest of the team will head to Florida. Action in Winston-Salem will begin at 8:20 p.m. on Thursday and 11:50 a.m. on Friday, while action in Gainesville will begin at noon on Friday and 10 a.m. on Saturday.
• A pair of event groups are ranked in the top 10 of the USTFCCCA Event Squad Rankings, with the shot put squad sitting at No. 3 and the 400-meter hurdles squad cracking the list at No. 9.
• In the team's last meet, the 44 Farms Team Invitational, the Wolverines set records in a pair of events. Savannah Sutherland made her outdoor-season debut, winning the 400-meter hurdles in 55.28 seconds to set the meet and E.B. Cushing Stadium facility record. Elizabeth Tapper set the program shot put record, finishing third with a mark of 17.29 meters (56 feet, 8.75 inches).
• Freshman Abigail Russell set two top-10 program marks, coming in at No. 5 on the program performers list in the hammer throw (55.10m, 180-9) and No. 7 in the discus throw (174-4).
• Clare McNamara posted the No. 6 javelin throw mark on the program performers list with a personal best of 41.06m (134-8).
• The 4x400-meter relay team of Sidney Green, Sutherland, Payton Smith and Noelani Phillips posted a season-best time of 3:35.57 for the No. 4 time on the program performers list, while Smith had the No. 4 time in the 400-meter dash (53.15 seconds).
