COLLEGE STATION, Texas -- The University of Michigan women's track and field team concluded competition at the 44 Farms Team Invitational at Texas A&M on Saturday (April 12) at E.B. Cushing Stadium, setting five top-10 program marks.
Abigail Russell finished 11th in the hammer throw with a personal-best mark of 55.10 meters (180 feet, 9 inches), the No. 8 mark on the program performers list. She also cracked the top 10 of the discus throw, finishing 10th with a personal-best throw of 53.14m (174-4) to come in at No. 7 on the program performers list.
In the javelin throw, Emma Yungeberg finished seventh with a mark of 49.94m (163-10). Clare McNamara finished 21st with a personal-best mark of 41.06m (134-8), the No. 6 mark on the program performers list.
Payton Smith finished seventh in the 400-meter dash with a personal best time of 53.15 seconds, the No. 4 fastest time on the program performers list.
A trio of Wolverines finished in the top five of the 800-meter run invite section, with Stephanie Bertram's second-place finish with a personal-best time of 2:06.67 leading the contingent. Samantha Hastie placed third (2:06.97) and Penelopea Gordon placed fifth (2:09.21).
BreeAna Bates finished 14th in the 100-meter dash with a season-best time of 11.59, while Gabriella Newman cleared 1.67m (5-5.75) in the high jump to finish in eighth place.
The 4x400-meter relay team of Sidney Green, Savannah Sutherland, Smith and Noelani Phillips finished third with a season-best time of 3:35.57. The time is No. 6 on the program performers list.
Michigan will remain on the road, splitting the week between Winston-Salem, N.C., for the Wake Forest Invitational on Thursday and Friday (April 17-18) and Gainesville, Fla., for the Tom Jones Invitational on Friday and Saturday (April 18-19).
