
U-M Sets Three Program Records on Third Day of NCAA Championships

FEDERAL WAY, Wash. -- The No. 10-ranked University of Michigan men's swimming and diving team set new school records on Friday (March 28) at the NCAA Men's Swimming and Diving Championships at Weyerhaeuser King County Aquatic Center. The Wolverines remain in 10th place with a total of 83 points.
In the individual swims, Tyler Ray and Gal Groumi each earned second swims. Ray reached the 100-yard butterfly championship final, while Groumi advanced to the consolation final of the 200-yard freestyle. Ray set a new program record with a time of 44.00 in the 100 fly during the morning session.
Ray kicked off the finals with a seventh-place finish and a time of 44.01 in the 100-yard butterfly. Groumi followed with a time of 1:31.67 in the 200-yard freestyle B final, placing 11th overall.
Michigan excelled in the 400-yard medley relay as the team of Jack Wilkening, Ozan Kalafat, Ray and Groumi placed eighth with a school-record time of 3:01.19. Wilkening's leadoff backstroke split of 44.90 also set a new Michigan record in the 100-yard backstroke.
Michigan will conclude the NCAA Men's Swimming and Diving Championships on Saturday (March 29). Preliminaries will begin at 10 a.m. PT, with finals scheduled for 6 p.m. PT.
