
Maize and Blue Set to Compete at NCAA Championships

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The No. 10-ranked University of Michigan men's swimming and diving team (4-1, 2-1 Big Ten) will head to Federal Way, Wash., to compete in the NCAA Men's Swimming and Diving Championships at the Weyerhaeuser King County Aquatic Center. The four-day meet will start on Wednesday (March 26) and end on Saturday (March 29). All sessions will be streamed on ESPN+. Â
Notes
• In 2024, Michigan finished 14th as a team with a total of 87.5 points, its best result since the 2020-21 campaign.
• Tyler Ray will compete in the 50-yard freestyle along with the 100- and 200-yard butterfly races. Ray set a new Michigan record in the 100 fly at the Big Ten Championships with a time of 44.28 on the way to a conference title. Â
• Colin Geer matched Ray's total with three event entries. The sophomore will hit the pool for the 100- and 200-yard butterfly and the 200-yard IM. Geer captured his first career conference win in the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 1:39.58.
• Gal Groumi will take part in his final NCAA Championships, qualifying for the 200-yard freestyle and 200-yard IM. Groumi ranks third in the country in the 200 IM with a time of 1:40.34 and 10th in the nation in the 200 free with a season-best mark of 1:31.57.
• Lorne Wigginton will make his national championships debut in the 400-yard IM. The freshman posted a top-10 national mark in the event at the Big Ten Championships, throwing down a time of 3:39.76.
• Fellow first-year Jon Jøntvedt will represent the Maize and Blue in the 1,650-yard freestyle. Jøntvedt ranks sixth in the conference with a time of 14:48.20.
• Eduardo Moraes and Ozan Kalafat round out the swimming qualifiers, earning a berth in the 500-yard freestyle and 100-yard breaststroke, respectively. Kalafat's entry is the first individual qualification of his career.
• In diving, Cameron Gammage qualified in the one-meter and three-meter dives by finishing 10th and seventh, respectively, at the NCAA Zone C Diving Championships.
