FEDERAL WAY, Wash. -- The No. 10-ranked University of Michigan men's swimming and diving team wrapped up the first night of competition at the NCAA Championships on Wednesday (March 26) at Weyerhaeuser King County Aquatics Center. Through two events, Michigan sits 15th overall with 12 points.
U-M finished 11th overall in the 800-yard freestyle relay as the team of Eitan Ben-Shitrit, Gal Groumi, Eduardo Moraes and Lorne Wigginton clocked a time of 6:11.10. The mark matches Michigan's best time of the season, which came after its effort at the Big Ten Championships.
U-M was disqualified in the 200-yard medley relay for an early exchange.
The Maize and Blue will return to the pool on Thursday (March 27) for the second day of competition at the NCAA Men's Swimming and Diving Championships. Preliminaries will begin at 10 a.m. PT, with finals starting at 6 p.m. PT.
