
Michigan Moves Up to 10th on Second Day of NCAA Championships

FEDERAL WAY, Wash. -- The No. 10-ranked University of Michigan men's swimming and diving team used strong performances in the 200-yard IM and 200-yard freestyle relay to move up to tie for 10th place with No. 16 Alabama (43 points) on Thursday (March 27) at the NCAA Men's Swimming and Diving Championships inside Weyerhaeuser King County Aquatic Center.
Gal Groumi and Colin Geer each earned a second swim in the 200-yard IM. Geer battled in the consolation final, finishing 10th overall with a time of 1:40.55. Groumi placed seventh in the championship final, logging a mark of 1:40.17.
Michigan closed out night two with the 200-yard freestyle relay. The quartet of Geer, Tyler Ray, Bence Szabados and Jack Wilkening combined for a time of 1:15.46 to finish 11th overall and earn All-America second-team recognition.
U-M will return to action on Friday (March 28) for the third day of the NCAA Men's Swimming and Diving Championships. Preliminaries will start at 10 a.m. PT, and finals will commence at 6 p.m. PT. Both sessions will be streamed live on ESPN+.
