
U-M to Head to Bloomington for Showdown with No. 5 California

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The No. 15-ranked University of Michigan water polo team (14-7, 6-2 CWPA) is hitting the road to Bloomington, Ind., for a matchup against No. 5 California (13-3, 1-2 MPSF) on Sunday (March 30) at 11 a.m. at the Counsilman-Billingsley Aquatic Center.
• Michigan returns to the pool after a dominant performance at the Wolverine Invite in Canham Natatorium, where the team swept all five games with a commanding 95-28 scoring advantage.
• Emma Gustafsson recorded her 100th career point against Bucknell and delivered an outstanding weekend performance with 13 goals and one assist. Her efforts earned her CWPA Player of the Week honors.
• Freshman attacker Ari Karampetsou was named CWPA Rookie of the Week after tallying two goals and nine assists over five games.
• Texas native Riley Chapple delivered an impressive performance at home, netting eight goals and four assists at the Wolverine Invite.
• Captain Ashley O'Neill led the charge with a hat trick in Michigan's 20-5 victory over St. Francis. The senior also contributed three goals and three assists throughout the tournament.
• Maddy Scarth had an impressive tournament, starting with her first career hat trick in the game against Mercyhurst. On day two, the sophomore continued to shine, scoring two goals against Bucknell before recording three goals and three assists in the win over St. Francis.
• The U-M defense, led by goalkeeper Sophia Bunnell, recorded an impressive 41 saves over the weekend.
• The Wolverines will face the University of California for the 22nd time in program history, looking to bounce back after a loss to the Golden Bears during the 2024 season.
