
Michigan Looks to Clinch Share of Regular-Season B1G Title at No. 3 Nebraska

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The No. 5-ranked University of Michigan men's gymnastics team (7-3, 2-1 Big Ten) will head to Lincoln, Neb., to close out its regular season slate at No. 3 Nebraska (3-3, 1-2) on Friday (March 21) at 7 p.m. CT. With a win over the Huskers at Devaney Center, U-M will clinch a share of the regular season Big Ten title with Penn State.
Notes
• The Wolverines are coming off a Senior Day upset over rival Ohio State, 328.100-322.000, on Saturday (March 15). The score is a season-high for Michigan and the fifth-best score in the NCAA this season.
• The Maize and Blue led after the first rotation, but U-M mistakes and a 15.050 from Ohio State on pommel horse gave the Buckeyes the edge until the fifth rotation. High scores from Michigan on parallel bars and high bar, as well as low high scores from OSU, sealed the win for the Wolverines.
• Charlie Larson earned his fourth floor title of the season with a 14.000, leading the nation with his average score of 14.117. The sophomore scored a 14.200 on vault to come just 0.100 points shy of his season high.
• Aaronson Mansberger scored a team and personal best 14.600 on the pommel horse to finish second. The score is the sixth-highest in the NCAA this season and Mansberger's fourth score above 14.000. The freshman is ranked sixth in the nation on the event and was tabbed Big Ten Freshman of the Week (March 18) and CGA Rookie of the Week (March 19) for his performance against the Buckeyes.
• With his third score above 14.000 this season, Logan McKeown took the parallel bars title (14.150) against OSU and comes in at No. 2 in the NCAA with an average score of 14.150.
• Michigan swept the high bar podium, with Paul Juda (14.300) finishing first, Evgeny Siminiuc (14.000) finishing second, and Pierce Wolfgang and Robert Noll tying for third (13.550). Juda's average of 13.567 is ninth in the nation.
• The Wolverines remain strong on parallel bars and high bar, ranking first and second in the nation respectively.
• The Huskers are coming off a narrow 329.050-328.850 loss at then-No. 5 Penn State. Nebraska has split its last two dual meets, topping Ohio State 325.650-321.450 on March 8, and is undefeated (2-0) at Devaney Center this season.
• Nebraska is ranked in the top five in five events, coming in at No. 2 on still rings in its highest event ranking. Three Huskers are ranked in the top 10 on the event with Chris Hiser leading the trio with an average score of 13.983.
