
Laurencin, Sutherland Advance to Finals at NCAA Indoor Championships

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. -- The University of Michigan women's track and field team opened the NCAA Indoor Championships with a pair of Wolverines advancing to their event finals on Friday (March 15) at the Virginia Beach Sports Complex.
Savannah Sutherland ran a season-best time of 51.65 seconds in the 400-meter dash, just 0.24 seconds shy of her career best, to finish second in her heat and fifth overall. Sutherland advanced on time and will run in the finals on Saturday.
Aasia Laurencin was the final Wolverine to compete, running 8.01 in the 60-meter hurdles. She finished second in her heat to advance to the finals.
The Wolverines will close out their indoor season with the final day of the NCAA Indoor Championships at 1:45 p.m. on Saturday (March 15) at the Virginia Beach Sports Complex. Elizabeth Tapper will make her Championships debut in the shot put at 1:45 p.m., while Sutherland and Laurencin will run in the finals at 3:20 p.m. and 3:40 p.m., respectively.
