
Wolverine Trio Set for NCAA Indoor Championships

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- Three members of the University of Michigan women's track and field team will close out the indoor season at the NCAA Championships at the Virginia Beach Sports Center in Virginia Beach, Va., on Friday and Saturday (March 14-15). The 2025 NCAA DI Indoor Track and Field Championships will air on the ESPN family of networks.
Notes
• Aasia Laurencin (60-meter hurdles), Savannah Sutherland (400-meter dash) and Elizabeth Tapper (shot put) are set to compete.
• This will be the third straight indoor championships for both Laurencin and Sutherland, with Tapper making her debut.
• Laurencin took silver in the 60-meter hurdles at the Big Ten Championships, just 0.005 seconds shy of defending her 2024 title. The graduate student's personal best time of 7.97 set the St. Lucia national record, and marks the second time in her career that Laurencin has broken eight seconds. Laurencin finished sixth in last year's 60-meter hurdles championship finals.
• Sutherland claimed her second straight 400-meter dash Big Ten title, defeating USC's Yemi John with a time of 51.74. The senior finished seventh in last year's championship finals.
• Tapper finished third in the shot put at the Big Ten Championships with a school record mark of 18.26m (59-11), the fifth time this season she has set the program standard. Tapper is 24th all-time best indoor shot put performer in the NCAA.
• Preliminaries for the track events will begin at 4 p.m. on Friday (March 14) with the 400-meter dash. Shot put action is set for 1:45 p.m. on Saturday (March 15), while the finals for the track events will begin at 3:20 p.m.
