
Michigan Set for Three-Game Slate at Indiana's Midwest Invite

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The No. 16-ranked University of Michigan water polo team (1-1) will head to Bloomington, Ind. for games in the Midwest Invite, Saturday and Sunday (Feb. 8-9). On Saturday (Feb. 8), U-M will start the three-game tournament with a matchup against No. 20 Wagner (4-3) at 1:30 p.m. before facing host No. 12 Indiana (9-0) at 5 p.m. The Wolverines will close out the event on Sunday (Feb. 9) at 10 a.m. with a game against No. 2 Stanford (4-0).
Notes
• U-M returns to the pool after a 1-1 weekend at Polo-Palooza in Fresno, Calif., defeating San Jose State 15-13. The Wolverines concluded the weekend with a victory in their exhibition meet against Pacific.
• Freshman Ari Karampetsou wasted little time making an impact in her Michigan debut, delivering a seven-point weekend with six goals and an assist. The performance led her to her first CWPA Rookie of the Week honors.
• Emma Gustafsson was named CWPA Player of the Week on Jan. 21 after she recorded five goals on seven shots, including a hat trick, in the season opener against Fresno State.
• Goalkeeper Madie Ambrose returned to the pool and tallied 12 saves during Polo-Palooza, crowning her CWPA Defensive Player of the Week (Jan. 21) for her efforts. Her nine-save performance over the Bulldogs matched her career high set last February.
• Ashley O'Neill kicked off her senior season with back-to-back multi-goal performances, scoring twice in each of the Maize and Blue's regular-season matchups.
• The Wolverines' win over San Jose State was spearheaded by a four-goal effort from California native Brooke Ingram.
• The Maize and Blue holds an 8-0 record all-time against Wagner. Michigan last faced off against the Seahawks on Jan. 25, 2020, in an 11-8 win during the Michigan Invitational.
• U-M holds a 46-17-1 lead in the all-time series against Indiana. The Wolverines look to bounce back after a 10-7 loss to the Hoosiers last season.
• Michigan is seeking its first win against Stanford; the teams last met in 2023 with the Cardinal winning 14-4.
