
Wolverines Set Three Top-10 Marks to Open B1G Indoor Championships

INDIANAPOLIS -- The University of Michigan women's track and field team opened the Big Ten Indoor Championships on Friday (Feb. 28) at the Indiana State Fairgrounds, with three top-10 program marks highlighting the day.
Savannah Sutherland advanced to the finals of the 400-meter dash (51.77 seconds), and Aasia Laurencin advanced to the finals of the 60-meter hurdles (8.08). Both had the fastest preliminary times and are the reigning conference champions in their respective events.
Amare Harlan recorded a personal-best time of 23.47 in the 200-meter dash, finishing 11th. Her time ranks No. 2 on the program performers list. Harlan also competed in the long jump, finishing 14th with a mark of 6.01 meters (19 feet, 8.75 inches).
In the 800-meter run, Samantha Hastie posted a personal-best time of 2:05.73 to advance to the finals. Her time was just 0.13 seconds shy of tying the No. 10 time on the program performers list.
Mia Manson and Clare McNamara both set new personal bests in the pentathlon, with Manson's score of 3,832 points ranking No. 7 on the program performers list and McNamara's score of 3,797 ranking No. 8. Manson also posted a personal best in the long jump (5.84m, 19-2), while McNamara set a personal best in the shot put (14.11m/46-3.5), finishing 11th and 13th, respectively.
U-M will close out the Big Ten Championships on Saturday (March 1) at the Indiana State Fairgrounds, with the high jump at 11:10 a.m. as the first event of the day.
