
Wolverines to Head to North Carolina for Pair of Ranked Matchups

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The No. 6-ranked University of Michigan women's tennis team (6-1) heads to North Carolina for a pair of matches this weekend, first playing at No. 19 NC State (4-3) on Friday afternoon (Feb. 14) at 3 p.m. U-M will wrap up the weekend on Sunday (Feb. 16) at No. 14 Duke at 11 a.m.
Notes
• The Wolverines are coming off a 2-1 showing at the ITA National Team Indoor Championship, defeating No. 16 LSU and No. 11 Texas.
• The Wolverines are 5-0 all-time against NC State after recording a pair of wins last season against the Wolfpack. U-M won 4-1 at the 2024 ITA National Team Indoor Championship and was a 4-1 winner at home 11 days later.
• Michigan has three wins all-time against Duke. The teams have not played since the 2021 ITA Kick-Off at Georgia Tech. The last time Michigan played in Durham, N.C., the Wolverines rallied from a 3-0 deficit for a 4-3 win over the Blue Devils on April 6, 2016.
• NC State (No. 19) and Duke (No. 14) will mark Michigan's sixth and seventh ranked opponents of the season. U-M moved up one spot to No. 6 in this week's ITA team rankings.
• Michigan is 1-0 in true road matches this season and 3-1 away from the Varsity Tennis Center.
• U-M is 26-4 in singles action during dual-match play. Julia Fliegner, Reese Miller and Lily Jones pace the Wolverines with five wins each. Fliegner is a perfect 5-0, going 4-0 at No. 1 and 1-0 at No. 2.
• U-M has four ranked singles players in No. 4 Fliegner, No. 30 Piper Charney, No. 36 Lily Jones and No. 66 Miller. The Wolverines have four ranked doubles teams.
• Michigan has won four weekly conference honors this season, with Miller (Jan. 15), Charney (Jan. 29) and Fliegner (Feb. 12) each picking up Player of the Week honors. Emily Sartz-Lunde was named the Big Ten Freshman of the Week on Jan. 15, with Jessica Bernales picking up the honor this week (Feb. 5).
