ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- After losing at Mackey Arena 18 days ago, the 20th-ranked University of Michigan men's basketball team (18-5; 10-2 Big Ten) is set for its rematch with seventh-ranked Purdue (19-5; 11-2 Big Ten) this time in Ann Arbor and at Crisler Center. The game is scheduled for a 7 p.m. tip on Peacock with Noah Eagle, Robbie Hummel, and Caroline Pineda on the call.
Notes
• Michigan heads into the battle with Purdue on a four-game winning streak. All four victories have been decided for four or fewer points. U-M's last loss was to Purdue (Jan. 24) in Mackey Arena (91-64).
• Tuesday night's game is the second meeting between Michigan and Purdue. It will be the 19th time both teams face each other when ranked, which U-M is 8-10.
• U-M's other home-and-home series are with Rutgers (1-0, Feb. 27) and Michigan State (Feb. 21 and March 9).
• A few weeks ago, U-M could not overcome Purdue's blistering 51-point first half, falling 91-64. Four Wolverines scored in double figures with Vladislav Goldin leading U-M with 14 points and six rebounds. Tre Donaldson, Nimari Burnett, and Roddy Gayle Jr. scored 11 points, while Rubin Jones tied a career-high with eight rebounds. The Maize and Blue had 22 turnovers and shot six of 29 on 3-pointers. Purdue's Braden Smith scored 24 points with 10 assists, seven rebounds, and four steals, while only having one turnover.
• Winning at Indiana, Michigan etched its 10th conference win and stayed in the Big Ten title hunt. The 10 wins is the 37th season (10 of the last 12) U-M has reached double-digit wins.
• Jones was inserted into the starting lineup at Indiana, replacing Gayle Jr. U-M coach Dusty May's move is intended to allow Gayle to be a spark off the bench and command U-M's second unit.
• U-M is shooting 49.2 percent, ranking third in the Big Ten and 12th nationally. Goldin's 64.7 percent ranks first in the Big Ten and sixth nationally.
• Illness held Goldin to 16 minutes, four points, and three rebounds against Penn State. However, in his three games since, he has shot 17-for-23 (69.5%), posted three double-figure games, and grabbed 20 rebounds.
• Wolf -- the only Big Ten player to average a double-double (12.7 ppg, 10.0 rpg) -- has 35 rebounds over his last three games -- 14 at Rutgers, 12 against Oregon, and nine at Indiana. He has 13 games of 10-plus rebounds and leads the Big Ten with 10 double-doubles.
• Wolf is three points away from 800 (797) and 15 rebounds away from 600 (584).
• With 18 games of 15-plus assists, and six of 20-plus, U-M's 17.3 per game is third in the Big Ten and 15th nationally.
• With at least three assists in 21 of 23 games, Donaldson needs one more assist to reach 100 (99) for the season. It would mark the second straight season surpassing the century mark after his 112 at Auburn (2023-24).
• U-M has 12 games with 10+ three-pointers, including tying the program record with 19 against Western Kentucky. Donaldson (45; 41.3%) and Nimari Burnett (44; 42.7%) lead from long range, combining for 89 of U-M's 214 three-pointers.
