
Wolverines to Close Pacific Northwest Swing with Huskies

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The No. 6-ranked University of Michigan women's basketball team (11-1, 2-0 Big Ten) completes a two-game swing in the Pacific Northwest on Thursday (Jan. 1), taking on Washington (11-2, 1-1 Big Ten) at Alaska Airlines Arena. The game is set for 3 p.m. PT and can be seen live on the Big Ten Network.
Notes
• U-M and Washington are playing for the third time as conference opponents after Michigan got two wins over the Huskies last year. U-M grabbed an 82-69 win in Ann Arbor and a 66-58 victory in the Big Ten Tournament.
• Michigan's bench scored 40 points in its win over Purdue, with all seven Wolverines who came off the bench recording at least one point. U-M is sixth nationally in bench points at 32.9 points per game after getting 33 points from its bench against Oregon.
• The Wolverines lead the Big Ten in scoring offense (92.4 ppg) and scoring margin at +36.2. After grabbing 28 offensive rebounds against Oregon (Dec. 29), U-M is first in the conference and fifth nationally in offensive rebounding at 18.2 caroms per game.Â
• Michigan is 2-0 in Big Ten action for the fifth time in the last six seasons. U-M is one of six schools to be unbeaten after two games of Big Ten play.
• Michigan has four players scoring in double figures in sophomores Olivia Olson (18.3 ppg), Syla Swords (14.4 ppg), Mila Holloway (12.4 ppg) and Te'Yala Delfosse (11.4 ppg).
• Michigan has been effective on the glass this season, holding a +15.0 margin by grabbing 45.4 rebounds and allowing just 30.4 per contest. The Wolverines rank first in the Big Ten and fifth nationally in offensive rebounds per game at 18.2. Michigan is rebounding nearly 50 percent of its misses on the offensive end, grabbing 47.5 of the boards available. U-M's .475 offensive rebound rate leads the Big Ten. U-M is 11-0 this season when winning the battle on the glass. Michigan grabbed 60 rebounds against Oregon, marking the 12th time the Wolverines have grabbed at least 60 in a game. U-M turned 28 offensive rebounds into 20 second-chance points while limiting Oregon to six offensive rebounds and zero second-chance points.
• Macy Brown has found a role for Michigan coming off the bench, most recently playing a career-high 30 minutes at Oregon. She responded with seven points, seven rebounds and five assists -- the latter two accounting for new career highs. She is averaging 15.2 minutes per game off the bench this season.
• Swords had a game for the ages in Michigan's near-upset of No. 1 UConn (Nov. 21), going for 29 points and nine rebounds in all 40 minutes of action. She hit eight three-pointers in the game, including three in the final minute to pull Michigan within a point. She became the third Wolverine in program history to make at least eight in a game, joining Katelynn Flaherty and Elissa Brett. She is averaging 14.4 points, 5.3 rebounds and 2.4 assists in a team-high 30.4 minutes per game. She has scored in double figures in nine games after turning in 18 points in Michigan's win at Oregon.
• U-M is 123-10 under head coach Kim Barnes Arico when scoring at least 80 points. U-M is 11-0 when hitting the mark this season.
