
Michigan Continues Winning Ways With Victories Over Oakland, Pitt

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The No. 10-ranked University of Michigan women's swimming and diving program picked up another two wins on Friday (Nov. 7) over Oakland and Pittsburgh at Canham Natatorium to move to 6-0 on the season. The Wolverines placed first in 12 of 14 events in the double-dual meet.
The Wolverines started out the meet with another win in the 200-yard medley relay, with the team of Bella Sims, Letitia Sim, Brady Kendall and Stephanie Balduccini registering a time of 1:37.52 the week after breaking Michigan's school record in the event.
Continuing into the individual portion of the meet, Marian Ploger came out on top in the 1,000-yard freestyle with a time of 10:04.29, and Sims finished off the Michigan sweep of the distance events with a victory in the 500 free.
Later, Sims closed out the individual section of the meet with her second first-place finish on the day: a victory in the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 1:58.14. This continues the strong season for Sims, who was named Big Ten Swimmer of the Week on Oct. 29.
Leila Fack added two wins for the Maize and Blue, placing first in both the 200 and 100 free. She recorded a time of 1:49.81 and 50.18 seconds, respectively, while Lexi Greenhawt picked up a victory in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 53.11.
Letitia Sim and Kendall added individual wins after their meet-opening relay win, with Sim topping the 100-yard breaststroke with a 1:01.15 and Kendall placing first in the 50 free with a time of 22.73.
Hannah Bellard won the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 1:54.42, and freshman Natalie Walklett added a victory in the 200 breast with a time of 2:17.61.
To close out the meet, Michigan won the 400-yard freestyle relay with the lineup of Balducci, Kendall, Greenhawt, and Fack putting up a time of 3:18.94.
Up next, Michigan will travel to Knoxville, Tenn., for the CSCAA Dual Meet Challenge, Thursday through Sunday, Nov. 20-23.
