
Kanewa-Hermelyn Signs Four in First Class

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- University of Michigan women's gymnastics head coach Maile'ana Kanewa-Hermelyn announced Wednesday (Nov. 12) the signing of four student-athletes to scholarship agreements: Ronnie Amey, Isabelle David, Shea Orlando and Virginie Therrien.
"We are beyond excited to officially welcome Isabelle, Ronnie, Shea and Vivi to the University of Michigan women's gymnastics family," said Kanewa-Hermelyn. "Each of these incredible athletes embodies the values of excellence, integrity and teamwork that define the Wolverine tradition. Their talent, character and commitment to this team will strengthen our program and continue the proud legacy of Michigan gymnastics. We look forward to the impact they will have on the Maize and Blue, both on and off the competition floor. Wolverine Nation, please help us welcome the class of 2026. Go Blue!"

Ronnie Amey | Oakland, Calif. | Club: Airborne Gymnastics
• Prepped at Moreau Catholic High School
• Trained at Airborne Gymnastics
• Competed on the Developmental Program National Team for three years
• Notched the title on the uneven bars at 2024 and 2023 DP Nationals
• Won the uneven bars title at the 2025 Region I Regionals and placed third in the all-around
• Placed second on the vault, uneven bars and in the all-around at the 2024 regional meet
• Earned the vault title at the 2024 NorCal State meet
• Finished second on the uneven bars and in the all-around at the 2024 NorCal State meet

Isabelle David | Beverly Hills, Calif. | Club: All Olympia Gymnastics Center
• Prepped at Beverly Hills High School
• Trained at All Olympia Gymnastics Center
• Competed at the national championships in both 2022 and 2024
• Traveled to and competed at the Pan American Championships in 2024
• Competed at the Regional Championships five times
Kanewa-Hermelyn on David: "Isabelle brings incredible joy, fierceness and an unmistakable sense of power and grit to everything she does. Shea Orlando | Dallas, Texas | Club: Metroplex Gymnastics
• Prepped at Texas Connections Academy of Houston
• Trained and competed at Metroplex Gymnastics
• Is a three-time Developmental Program National Team member
• Won the national championship on floor in 2025
• Is the back-to-back regional all-around champion
• Four-peated as the all-around state champion from 2022-25
Kanewa-Hermelyn on Orlando: "Shea has a sweet and grounded nature, an inspiring commitment to her family and a deep love for the block M that shines through in everything she does. Her beautiful lines on all four events and quiet confidence reveal a secret power that will make her an incredible addition to our program and family. Shea truly has the heart of a Wolverine and we cannot wait for you all to see her shine under the lights of Crisler Center for the next four years!"
Virginie Therrien | Montreal, Quebec | Club: Gym Richelieu
• Prepped at College of Montreal
• Is a member of the Canadian National Team
• Was also a member of Team Quebec
• Attended National Team camp
• Helped her team to a third-place finish at the WOGA Classic in 2025
• Placed third on vault at the 2025 WOGA Classic
• Was a finalist on the vault at the World University Games in 2025
• Previously trained and competed at Gym Gadbois
• Placed third in the all-around and was a finalist on vault, beam and floor at the 2024 International Gymnix
• Made the finals in the all-around and on uneven bars, beam and floor at the 2023 Canada Games, helping her team to a second-place finish
• Finished second in the all-around at the 2023 Gaia International meet
• Earned a second-place finish on the vault at the Canadian Championships in 2021
• Placed third on both beam and vault for Elite Canada in 2021
Kanewa-Hermelyn on Therrien: Vivi's international experience with Team Canada has shaped her into an athlete of exceptional poise and resilience. Vivi's never-give-up mentality and toughness in the face of adversity embody the spirit of Michigan gymnastics. She's a kind soul with tremendous skill already with an enormous amount of untapped potential -- when she's out on the floor, you're not going to want to stop watching.
