AUSTIN, Texas -- Graduate student Allison Jacobs of the University of Michigan volleyball team was named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-America Volleyball third team, the organization announced Tuesday (Jan. 14).
The honor is the first of Jacobs' career after being named CSC Academic All-District earlier this year. Jacobs is the first U-M volleyball player ever to be named to the Academic All-American Team.
Jacobs had the best season of her career in 2024, tallying 335 kills and 186 digs in 25 matches, and was second on the team in points scored. The Stevenson Ranch, Calif. native, averaged 4.09 kills as an attacker and recorded double-digit kills in 19 of 20 matches. Even with missing six matches, she finished second on the team in kills and fourth in digs. She earned an American Volleyball Coaches Association All-Region Honorable Mention spot and was named to the All-Big Ten First Team.
Jacobs served on the team's leadership committee on the court, was the on-floor captain and was chosen as the team's Big Ten Sportsmanship Award winner. Outside of volleyball, Jacobs is the president of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee. She graduated last May with a degree in Communications and Media from the College of Literature, Science and the Arts, and is now pursuing a Master of Management degree from the Ross School of Business. Jacobs is a three-time Academic All-Big Ten honoree and two-time Big Ten Distinguished Scholar.
