Wolverines Lead Wire-to-Wire in Victory at Purdue

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. -- The No. 25-ranked University of Michigan women's basketball team led wire-to-wire to snap a three-game losing streak, knocking off Purdue 87-60 on Saturday afternoon (Jan. 11) at Mackey Arena.
The Wolverines had three players in double figures, highlighted by Mila Holloway's 21 points, three boards, three assists and four steals. Olivia Olson turned in 18 points and a team-high seven rebounds, with Jordan Hobbs chipping in 10. Eleven Wolverines found the scoring column as Michigan shot 45.9 percent from the floor and hit 10 triples. Michigan held Purdue to 36.5 percent shooting and turned 18 Boilermakers turnovers into 22 points.
Michigan jumped on Purdue early and never looked back, going up 13-4 on a Holloway three-point play at the 6:41 mark. Greta Kampschroeder connected on her second triple of the opening quarter with 5:23 on the first-quarter clock to push Michigan's lead to double digits, 18-8.
Michigan led 26-16 after 10 minutes, regaining a double-figure lead on a pair of Hobbs free throws to end the first.
U-M's stayed in double figures in the early stages of the second quarter before Purdue got within nine, 32-23, with 7:08 on the clock. Michigan uncorked an 11-0 run from there, highlighted by an Olson triple off an Ally VanTimmeren board and a Syla Swords layup off a Brooke Quarles Daniels steal for a 43-23 lead with just under four minutes left before halftime.
Quarles Daniels converted a steal and layup as Michigan took a 48-27 lead into halftime behind 13 points from Olson and 10 from Holloway over the first 20 minutes.
Michigan hit triples on all three of its opening possessions of the third quarter, coming from Swords, Holloway and Olson, as Purdue called timeout with 8:23 remaining as U-M's lead swelled to 57-29.
The Wolverines led by as many as 34 points in the contest, with all 12 Wolverines seeing the court.
U-M kicks off a two-game homestand on Wednesday (Jan. 15), hosting Washington at 7 p.m. inside Crisler Center.
