Syla Swords played 19 minutes off the bench for Canada, recording four points, two rebounds and two assists in a 79-70 loss to Nigeria. Swords came off the bench midway through the first quarter, helping Canada recover from an early deficit for an 18-18 tie after 10 minutes. Canada held a 23-19 advantage in the second quarter for a 41-37 lead at the half, with Swords scoring two points. The difference came in the third quarter as Nigeria held Canada to just five points, taking a commanding 60-46 lead into the final quarter. Swords was plus-one during her 19 minutes of game time in her Olympic debut. She was the youngest women's basketball player at the 2024 Games.

Australia 70, Canada 65
Syla Swords played 15 minutes off the bench for Canada, recording two points, one rebound and one assist as Canada fell to Australia, 70-65. Australia led by two after the first 10 minutes, with Swords seeing heavy minutes in the second quarter as Canada took a four-point lead midway through. Australia hit a three-pointer at the halftime buzzer for a six-point lead after 20 minutes of action. The Opals held a 13-12 advantage in the third quarter for a seven-point lead heading into the fourth. Canada outscored Australia by two, 21-19, but it was not enough in the five-point loss to move to 0-2 in group play.

France 75, Canada 54
Syla Swords, the youngest women's basketball player at the 2024 Games, made her Olympic debut for Canada in a 75-54 loss to France to begin group play. She had four points and a rebound in 9:30 of playing time. Canada and France went back-and-forth in the early going, with France taking an 18-15 lead after 10 minutes. The second quarter proved to the difference, as France outscored Canada, 23-2, in the second 10 minutes.
