ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The No. 13-ranked University of Michigan water polo team (20-9) will play its final game of the regular season on Saturday (April 20) at 11 a.m. when it welcomes No. 15-ranked Indiana to Canham Natatorium. Prior to the game, seven seniors will be recognized for their contributions to the program.
Notes
• Michigan returns to action after going 3-1 in four conference games at Bucknell on April 6-7. U-M will look to continue its strong play at home, boasting a 7-1 record at Canham.
• Saturday will mark the 64th all-time meeting between the Wolverines and Hoosiers, with Michigan leading the series 46-16-1. The Maize and Blue has taken each of the past 12 games against Indiana dating back to 2016. Both teams have been ranked in every game of the series.
• Emma Gustafsson has put together a strong debut season in Ann Arbor, taking home another CWPA Rookie of the Week honor on April 10 after tallying 17 points in four games in Lewisburg, Pa. The highlight of Gustafsson's dominant offensive weekend came in the opening game against host Bucknell when she scored five goals and dished out three assists for a career-high eight points.
• Kata Utassy has been Michigan's go-to option on offense this season. The senior leads the team with 92 points, including 60 goals. The senior has notched two points or more in 25 of 29 starts and tallied three points in three of the four league games at Bucknell.
• Alex Brown etched her name in the record book, becoming just the third Wolverine in program history to record 900 saves. This season, the graduate student has tallied 259 saves and won 18 games.
• Lola Ciruli and Issy Jackson have caused havoc on the defensive end, logging 31 and 41 steals, respectively. Ciruli, Jackson and Utassy have each posted 20 steals or more this season. To go with her 41 steals, Jackson has blocked 13 shots to bolster a strong Wolverine defense.
• Sammi Monroe has emerged as a reliable third scoring option for U-M. Monroe has scored 21 goals and chipped in 28 assists, checking in at second on the team behind Utassy (32 assists). Monroe's point total of 49 ranks third on the roster.
• Following Saturday's contest, Michigan will travel to Boston, Mass., to compete in the CWPA Championships, hosted by Harvard.
