BLOOMINGTON, Ind. -- Due to travel issues with Saint Francis (Pa.), the University of Michigan water polo team's opening game of the Indiana Classic originally scheduled for 9:15 a.m. on Saturday (Feb. 17) has been canceled and will not be made up.
Since the match is not being made up, the Collegiate Water Polo Association announced it will be recorded as a forfeit 5-0 conference win for Michigan. According to the NCAA, conferences have the right to rule a match as a forfeit but note that it has no effect in regards to the overall win-loss results, statistics, etc.
U-M will now shift its focus to its first game of the tournament against the Salem Tigers, which is slated for 4:45 p.m. on Saturday (Feb. 17).
The rest of the event schedule remains unchanged with the Indiana-California Baptist matchup scheduled for 10:30 a.m. now becoming the opening game of the tournament.
