
Michigan Earns Victory in Exhibition Showcase vs. WMU, EMU

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The University of Michigan women's gymnastics team earned a victory in its annual exhibition meet against Eastern Michigan and Western Michigan on Friday (Dec. 6) at Crisler Center. The Wolverines paced the field with a 195.600, while Western Michigan came in second with a 194.175 and Eastern Michigan rounded out the trio with a 191.700.
Graduate student Carly Bauman took home the balance beam and uneven bars titles with a 9.900 and a 9.850, respectively, while freshmen Sophia Diaz and Jahzara Ranger shared the vault title with matching 9.875s. Kayli Boozer took home the floor title with a 9.900.
Peyton Davis started things off for the Wolverines on the vault with a strong 9.775 while Ranger and Diaz matched with team-high 9.875s as U-M went into the second rotation with a 49.100 team score. Western Michigan sat in second with a 48.525 and Eastern Michigan finished with a 48.000 in the first rotation.
Bauman paced Michigan on the uneven bars with a 9.850, while Ranger placed second with a 9.750 and U-M led the field with 97.675 at the halfway point. Eastern took over the second-place spot with a running score of 96.700, while Western carried a 96.675 going into the third rotation.
Boozer put together a steady leadoff routine on the beam with a 9.825 before Bauman capped off the rotation with a 9.900 to help give Michigan a running score of 146.575 heading into the fourth and final rotation of the evening.
Boozer continued to impress as she won the floor title with a 9.900 while Reyna Guggino placed second with a 9.875 and Sophie Parenti tied for fourth with a 9.825.
The Wolverines will kick off the 2025 season on Sunday, Jan. 5 when they travel to Denver, Colo. for a meet against the Pioneers at 2 p.m. MST.
