
Gordon Wraps Up U-M's 2024 Season at NCAA Championships

MADISON, Wis. -- Penelopea Gordon represented the University of Michigan women's cross country team at the NCAA Championships as an individual runner on Saturday (Nov. 23), finishing 169th to close out the 2024 season.
Gordon sat in 60th place through the first kilometer before dropping to 102nd at the 2K mark. With the final kilometer left, the Rochester, Minn., native, fell to 150th before finishing 169th with a time of 20:55.8.
A junior in her debut season for the Maize & Blue, Gordon led the Wolverine effort on the backend of the schedule. U-M's lead runner in the last three races coming into the championships, she ran three straight personal-best performances and broke 20 minutes twice.
Gordon finished 23rd at the Big Ten Championships (19:53.4) and 10th at the NCAA Great Lakes Regional (19:49.9). Gordon also earned All-Region honors for her performance last week.
BYU took the team title with 147 points, while Doris Lemngole of Alabama claimed the individual title with a time of 19:21.0.
