CHICAGO, Ill. -- The University of Michigan women's cross country team finished seventh with 170 points at the Sean Earl Lakefront Invitational on Friday (Sept. 29) at Sydney R. Marovitz Golf Course.
For the third straight race, Kayla Windemuller paced the Maize and Blue with a 6k time of 20:03.3. The graduate student started in the middle of the pack in 31st place but steadily gained ground, picking up 22 spots to finish ninth.
Samantha Saenz clocked a 20:33.6 to secure 31st overall, and Samantha Hastie improved 23 spots over the course of the race, jumping from 56th to 33rd and registering a mark of 20:35.4.
Tilly Simpson posted a time of 20:46.5 in her first 6k race as a Wolverine to finish fourth on the team and 43rd among all runners. Rounding out the scorers for Michigan was freshman Hannah Pricco who finished 54th with a mark of 21.01.1. Â
Five Wolverines competed in the Gold Division race with Danielle Page leading the way with a fifth-place finish and a time of 21:10.3. In her season debut, Katelynne Hart posted a time of 21:43.0 to secure 19th overall.
U-M will return to the course on Oct. 14 when it travels to Charlottesville, Va., the site of this season's NCAA Championships, for a battle against top competition in the XC-23 Pre-Nationals.
