
Wolverines Set to Face Long Beach State on Star Wars Night

Promotions: Star Wars Night, Toy Drive for Mott Children's Hospital
ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The University of Michigan basketball team is back in Ann Arbor to celebrate Star Wars Night and host Long Beach State on Friday (Nov. 17) at Crisler Center. Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. with the digital broadcast available on B1G+ (Student U) with Amer Bektas, Jesse Heller and Yasmeen Shah as the broadcast team.

• The match-up with Long Beach State is not only Star Wars Night, but it is also a Toy Drive to help support U-M's Mott Children's Hospital throughout the holidays. Upon entry, U-M fans are asked to donate an unwrapped gift for a patient. Please visit Mott Toy Store for more information.
• Michigan has won three straight games by an average of 23.7 points. U-M is shooting 53.8 percent from the floor, with three games of 30-plus field goals. Leading the Wolverines, Will Tschetter has started shooting 77.8 percent (14-for-18) with half of his baskets coming from long range -- 7-for-9 (77.8 percent). Olivier Nkamhoua is just behind shooting 75.0 percent (21-for-28) with eight dunks.
• Dug McDaniel averages 21.3 points with three straight games of 15-plus points, including a pair of 20-plus point career best performances. He opened the season with his second career 20-plus point game with 22 against UNC Asheville and followed with 16 against Youngstown State. In New York against play St. John's, McDaniel set a new career-best with 26.
• In addition to his scoring, McDaniel has added 6.3 assists and 3.8 rebounds per game. He has 4-plus assists in all three games with a season-best eight against UNC Asheville. He is shooting 52.3 percent from the floor and is tied for the team lead with seven three-pointers. He is also a perfect 11-for-11 on free throws -- going a career-best 8-for-8 vs. St. John's.
• Terrance Williams II has begun his senior season posting three straight double-figure scoring games -- UNC Asheville (15), Youngstown State (13) and vs. St. John's (12). Throughout his 87-game career, he had never had back-to-back double-digit games. Williams has a total of 13 double-figure games, with a career-best five total last season.
• Tarris Reed Jr. has started the first three games of his career. He started the season with back-to-back games with a career-best nine points -- UNC Asheville and Youngstown State. He then followed with a career-best 11 rebounds vs. St. John's.
• It's been nearly a decade since Michigan and Long Beach State played one another in what has been the lone meeting in the series history. In the Puerto Rico Tipoff on Nov. 21, 2013, in San Juan, the Wolverines won the opening round match-up, 85-61, behind a tournament-record 14 made three-pointers. The Maize and Blue duo of Nik Stauskas (24 points; 4-for-6 3FG) and Caris LeVert (20 points; 4-for-7 3FGs) combined for 44 of U-M's 85 points and eight of its event record 14 three-pointers.
• Long Beach State heads to Ann Arbor with a 1-2 record and is coming off an 88-76 setback to former U-M assistant Brian Dutcher and his San Diego State squad on Tuesday (Nov. 14). LBSU's first eight games will be played on the road.
• LBSU is led by senior guard March Tsohonis ("so-HO-ness"), who averages a team-best 18.7 points per game after opening the season with three straight games of 17 points or better, including 22 at DePaul (Nov. 11). Junior forward Aboubacar Traore ("uh-BOO-buh-car", "TRY-or-ay") averages a near double-double with his 14.0 points and 8.0 rebounds per game. Junior guard Jadon Jones gives LBSU three in double figures with his 12.7 points per game. Combined, Tsohonis (7) and Jones (8) have made 15 of LBSU's 19 three-pointers on the season.
• LBSU is coached by Dan Monson, who is in his 16th season (255-259). Monson is familiar with the Big Ten after coaching at Minnesota (1999-2006) where he compiled a 118-106 record. He has 425 career wins in 26 years as a head coach.
