ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The University of Michigan women's basketball team (1-0) concludes a two-game homestand to start the season by hosting Oakland (1-1) on Tuesday (Nov. 14) at Crisler Center. Tip is set for 7 p.m. and the first 1,000 fans will receive a schedule magnet. Â
Notes
• Michigan is completing a two-game homestand to start the 2023-24 season by hosting Oakland at Crisler Center. It will be the seventh time the teams have squared off since the 2016-17 season. U-M has won the last six in the series.
• U-M leads the series with Oakland, 11-5. The teams did not face each other last year, with the last meeting coming on Nov. 22, 2021. Michigan won that game, 69-58, at Crisler Center.
• Four Wolverines made their Michigan debut last time out, with each player finding the scoring column. Lauren Hansen started at point guard, finishing with 11 points, two boards and an assist in 25 minutes. Taylor Williams turned in eight points and seven boards in 16 minutes, with freshmen Macy Brown (3 points, 4 assists) and Taylor Woodson (2 points) playing in their first collegiate game.
• Laila Phelia tied her career high with 25 points in Michigan's season-opening win over Purdue Fort Wayne (Nov. 6). In addition, Jordan Hobbs grabbed a career-high eight rebounds and Whitney Sollom equaled her career high with five boards.
• Michigan signed five players to National Letters of Intent on the first day of the early signing period (Nov. 8). The class is currently ranked No. 4 by ESPN, marking the highest-ranked class in program history. Signing their letters were Olivia Olson, Syla Swords, Mila Holloway, Aaiyanna Dunbar and Te'Yala Delfosse. Olson (No. 15) and Swords (No. 11) represent the two-highest-ranked recruits in Michigan women's basketball history, marking the first time U-M has signed a pair of five-star recruits in the same class. » Release
• U-M is 92-9 under head coach Kim Barnes Arico when scoring at least 80 points. Michigan reached the 80-point mark in the season-opening win over Purdue Fort Wayne (Nov. 6).
• After this game, U-M will not return to Crisler Center until Nov. 24 when the Wolverines host Eastern Michigan.
