Andrew Fenty (April 12)
Big Ten Co-Athlete of the Week -- Andrew Fenty went 4-0 with two singles wins and two doubles wins. He defeated No. 58 ranked Justin Boulais on Sunday 3-6, 6-4, 6-4 after claiming a 6-1 doubles win over Boulais/Robert Cash with partner Gavin Young. On Friday, Fenty topped Penn State's Charl Morgan 6-3, 6-1 and won at No. 1 doubles 6-2. Andrew Fenty (March 29)
Big Ten Athlete of the Week -- Andrew Fenty went undefeated this past weekend, going 2-0 in singles and 2-0 in doubles as Michigan opened its Big Ten season with a sweep. On Friday (March 24) at Wisconsin, he defeated Jason Hildebrandt 6-3, 6-2 and on Sunday (March 26) took down Nebraska's Leo Linquet with matching 6-3 scores. With partner Gavin Young, Fenty helped capture a 6-4 doubles win over Wisconsin's No. 41-ranked team of Gabriel Huber and Michael Minasyan and followed up with a 6-2 win on Sunday versus the Cornhuskers. » Big Ten Release
Patrick Maloney (Feb. 22)
Big Ten Co-Athlete of the Week -- Patrick Maloney helped to lead Michigan to the ITA National Team Indoor Championship semifinals this week. He went 2-0 in singles with his biggest victory coming over Stanford's No. 4-ranked Max Basing, 6-4, 6-3, in the opening round. On Sunday (Feb. 19), he topped No. 33 Pierre-Yves Bailey 7-5, 6-3 to give Michigan a 3-1 edge over Texas. His two wins keep him undefeated in singles play at 8-0. In doubles, Maloney and partner Ondrej Styler earned 6-3 wins over pairs from Stanford and defending champion Virginia before dropping their only match of the week to Texas on Sunday. Andrew Fenty (Feb. 1)
Big Ten Athlete of the Week -- Andrew Fenty made history this week as he became the first Wolverine to reach 100 career doubles victories with his win on Saturday (Jan. 28). On Sunday (Jan. 29), he took it a step further and is now tied with Evan King as the winningest player in program history with 195 combined wins. Fenty won both of his singles matches in straight sets as Michigan won the ITA Kick-Off at the Varsity Tennis Center. He defeated Cal Poly's Colter Smith 6-0, 6-1 and Simen Bratholm of Northwestern 6-2, 6-2. His 100th career doubles win came with partner Gavin Young against Joe Leather/Bastiaan Westrate of Cal Poly 6-3 at No. 1. » Big Ten Release
Patrick Maloney (Jan. 25)
Big Ten Athlete of the Week -- Patrick Maloney guided No. 5 Michigan to a 3-0 week, including a 4-1 win over No. 6 Tennessee and two sweeps over the weekend. Maloney went 3-0 in doubles and 2-0 in singles play. On Thursday (Jan. 19), Maloney topped No. 59 ranked Shunsuke Mitsui (Tennessee) in straight sets 6-4, 6-3. It came after he helped the Wolverines secure the doubles point with a 6-4 win with Ondrej Styler. He won both of his doubles matches on Sunday, winning 6-3 with Styler again versus Brown and then taking down a pair from Cleveland State at No. 1 doubles with Gavin Young.
