Michigan in the Big Ten Tournament
• U-M has a 29-20 (25-19*) all-time record at the Big Ten Tournament.
• U-M has earned a first-round bye in nine straight tournaments. U-M has earned two double-byes (2019, '21).
• U-M has won 14-straight opening games -- the most of any major tournament team.
• U-M has three titles in its five championship game appearances. After winning the inaugural tournament in 1998, which was later vacated, U-M became the third team to win back-to-back titles after capturing the titles in 2017 (Washington, D.C.) and 2018 (NYC).
• In 1998, U-M defeated Iowa, Minnesota and Purdue to win the Big Ten's inaugural postseason tournament. Following sanctions, U-M vacated recognition of that title.
• In 2017, following a well-documented pre-tournament plane crash, U-M won four games in four days to win its first Big Ten Tournament title in nearly two decades. As the No. 8-seed, U-M became the lowest seed ever to win the conference tournament. The Maize and Blue defeated Wisconsin, 71-56, to claim the title -- its only win over the Badgers in the conference tournament.
• In 2018, U-M successfully defended its tournament championship, winning another four games in four days for a second straight year to become the first No. 5-seed to win the conference tournament. Michigan defeated Purdue, 75-66, in the title game.
• Michigan set the record for most consecutive wins with 10 straight from 2017-19. U-M reached the championship game three straight times during the stretch, winning two titles. U-M passed the previous mark of eight straight wins held by Ohio State.
The Indiana Hoosiers
• Indiana finished the regular season with an 18-12 record while going 9-11 in Big Ten play. After carting a 16-5 record into February, the Hoosiers lost seven of its final nine games. In their last two games, they fell to Rutgers (66-63) on a last second triple by Ron Harper, Jr. and then followed with a 69-67 loss at rival Purdue after missing a last second attempt to send the game to overtime.
• IU posted a 4-8 record away from Bloomington in the regular season.
• The Hoosiers are averaging 71.4 points, 36.6 rebounds and 14.6 assists per game.
• IU is holding opponents to 62.8 points per game, which is tops in the Big Ten. Adding to that, opponents are shooting just 37.0 percent against the Hoosiers, which also leads the Big Ten and ranks second nationally.
• Trayce Jackson-Davis leads the Hoosiers with 17.4 points per game, 8.2 rebounds per game, and 72 total blocks (2.4 bpg) while shooting 57.8 percent from the field, which ranks third in the Big Ten and 18th nationally. He has had 27 double-figure games with eight 20-plus point games and a career-best 43 against Marshall (Nov. 27), when he went 18-for-24 from the field.
• The Hoosiers have two additional double-figure scorers with Race Thompson's and Pitt transfer Xavier Johnson's 11.8 per game average. Thompson adds 7.7 rebounds per night and is shooting 55.6 percent from the field. Johnson has a team-best 138 assist (4.8 apg), while grabbing 3.7 rebounds per game. UT-Martin transfer Parker Stewart has made a team-best 51 three-pointers, as he is shooting 40.5 percent from deep and averaging 6.7 points per game.
• Indiana is led by first year head coach Mike Woodson -- an IU Hall of Famer, All-American, Big Ten MVP and Indiana native. Woodson brings nine years of NBA head coaching experience (Atlanta Hawks and New York Knicks). He played 11 seasons in the NBA as a player and is the fifth all-time leading scorer in Hoosier history with 2,061 points.
• Indiana has 22 Big Ten championships and has advanced to the NCAA Tournament 39 times. The Hoosiers have gone on to appear in eight Final Fours and won five national titles (1940, '52, '76, '81, '87). Michigan faced IU in the 1976 national title game.
