Andrew Liskowitz, Job Mayhue (May 12)
Big Ten Field Athlete of the Week -- John Meyer had a breakthrough performance in the shot put to claim the victory at the B1G Len Paddock Open on Saturday (May 8), earning him Big Ten Field Athlete of the Week honors for the first time in his career. Meyer launched the 16-pound ball out to 20.48m (67 feet, 2.25 inches) to move to No. 2 in the Big Ten and No. 4 nationally for the 2021 outdoor collegiate season. Big Ten Track Athlete of the Week -- Job Mayhue ran the fastest 110-meter hurdles race of his life at the B1G Len Paddock Open on Saturday (May 8) to claim both the win and his first-ever Big Ten Track Athlete of the Week honors. Mayhue clocked a 13.84 (+1.4m/s) to take the win, dipping 0.15 seconds beneath his previous personal best and moving up to No. 7 in the Big Ten and No. 35 nationally this spring. » Big Ten Release
Andrew Liskowitz (May 5)
Big Ten Field Athlete of the Week -- After reasserting himself as a national title contender at the B1G Jesse Owens Classic on Saturday (May 1), shot putter Andrew Liskowitz was named the Big Ten's Field Athlete of the Week. He landed just one legal throw in the competition, but it was a 20.70m (67 foot, 11 inch) heave that vaulted him into the 2021 outdoor Big Ten lead by nearly a meter and moved him up to No. 3 in the NCAA. He also ranks No. 20 in the world this spring. This marks his fourth career Big Ten Field Athlete of the Week nod. » Big Ten Release
Ayden Owens (April 21)
Big Ten Field Athlete of the Week -- In his first decathlon in a Michigan uniform, Ayden Owens won the B1G Husker Invitational on Friday and Saturday (April 16-17) with a score of 7,732 points that leads the Big Ten for the 2021 outdoor season and ranks third nationally. The 2021 indoor heptathlon first team All-American Owens was the top finisher in the 100 meters, 110-meter hurdles, 400 meters and 1,500 meters events, and also recorded personal-record efforts in the outdoor shot put and javelin. His performance will likely be enough to qualify him for one of 24 berths to the NCAA Outdoor Championships decathlon in June. » Big Ten Release
