Michigan Rolls Past Indiana for 10th Win, Completes Season Series Sweep

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The University of Michigan men's tennis team picked up its 10th win of the season with a 4-0 victory over Indiana on Saturday (April 3) at the Varsity Tennis Center. The No. 24-ranked Wolverines earned the season sweep of the Hoosiers after a 5-2 road win in February.
Ondrej Styler and Mattias Siimar played and won their first doubles match of the season, prevailing 6-3 at No. 1. They were tied with Andrew Redding and Patrick Fletchall 2-2 before winning the next three games to grab a 5-2 lead. Nick Beaty and Patrick Maloney handed Ilya Tiaspolsky and William Piekarsky a 6-1 loss at No. 3 doubles, as they rattled off five straight games for the win.
Michigan won all six of its first sets in singles, and not long after, Andrew Fenty gave the team a 2-0 edge in the team match with a win at No. 2. Fenty is now 11-7 overall and is 2-0 when playing at No. 2 singles. Tied 3-3 in the first set, Fenty won the last three games for the 6-3 score. In the second he led 4-1 before closing out a 6-2 win.
Jacob Bickersteth defeated Fletchall 6-3, 7-5 in No. 6 singles. He never trailed in the match to claim his sixth win of the season.
Winning his third straight match, Maloney improved to 7-1 at No. 3 singles with matching 6-4 sets over Carson Haskins.
Left undecided on the courts were No. 1 singles, where Styler led 7-5, 4-3; No. 4 singles with Siimar up 6-1, 6-5; and Beaty at No. 5, 7-6 (4), 3-4.
Michigan will go for the weekend sweep tomorrow (Sunday, April 4) when it hosts Purdue at noon.
