ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The University of Michigan women's tennis team won its third straight match, winning the doubles point and the first five singles matches off court in a 6-1 win over Indiana on Saturday afternoon (Feb. 20) at the IU Tennis Center.
The Maize and Blue struck first, grabbing the doubles point with wins at No. 2 and No. 1.
At the second spot, it was all Michigan as senior Alyvia Jones and sophomore Andrea Cerdan cruised to a 6-0 win as the first match finished.
Indiana evened the doubles ledger at one match each behind a 6-2 win at No. 3.
Michigan's top pair of graduate student Chiara Lommer and freshman Jaedan Brown came away with a 6-4 win to seal the first point. The match was one of runs, as U-M struck first for a 2-0 lead. Indiana (0-3, 0-3 Big Ten)Â answered right back with four straight games for a 4-2 lead. Michigan took over from there, winning the final four games to pick up the win.
It was all Michigan (3-1, 3-0 Big Ten) in singles as U-M won five first sets en route to five straight-set wins.
Jones was the first Wolverine off court at No. 4 as she won the first eight games of her match, eventually taking a 6-0, 6-3 win for her second consecutive victory.
Cerdan quickly followed her doubles partner, taking advantage of early breaks in both sets for a 6-2, 6-3 victory at No. 3 to account for Michigan's third point of the afternoon.
Freshman Gala Mesochoritou clinched the match for the Maize and Blue behind a 6-3, 6-4 win at No. 6. Mesochoritou broke in the final game of the first set, winning on a double fault. After dropping the first game of the second set, Mesochoritou took control midway through the second to put the match out of reach for Indiana.

Lommer came through at No. 2, rallying in the second set for a 6-1, 6-4 win. The lefty fell in an early hole in the second before clawing back from a 4-1 deficit by winning the final five games to record the victory.
Michigan's final point came courtesy of Brown at No. 5, as she ran her dual-match record to 4-0 as the only Wolverine to win a singles match in all four of U-M's dual matches. After taking the first set in a breaker, it was all Brown in the second as she breezed to a 6-0 win.
