Wolverine Bites
• U-M hits the road for the first time during Big Ten action, heading to the Hoosier State for a pair of matches. Michigan will kick off the weekend at Indiana on Saturday (Feb. 20) in the lone meeting of the season between the two teams. The Wolverines will then trek north to West Lafayette to square off against Purdue on Sunday (Feb. 21) in the first of two meetings this season.
• This weekend's matches will mark the first true road contests for the Wolverines, who faced Duke in a neutral-site match back in January.
• Michigan's freshman class has made a splash to start dual-match action, with Jaedan Brown featuring a 3-0 record to lead the way. Gala Mesochoritou and Merri Kelly each made their dual-match debuts last weekend, both going 2-0. In addition, Kari Miller won the first dual match of her career, winning at the top spot against Rutgers (Feb. 13).
• This weekend's action marks the first of two consecutive weekends away from the Varsity Tennis Center. U-M will travel to Penn State (Feb. 26) and Ohio State (Feb. 28) before returning home the following weekend (March 6-7) against Ohio State and Illinois.
• Freshman Jaedan Brown (Granger) will be competing in her home state of Indiana for the first time during her collegiate career.
• U-M is 2-0 this season when winning the doubles point after earning victories against Rutgers and Maryland. Michigan's No. 1 pairing of Jaedan Brown and Chiara Lommer went 2-0 last weekend to start Big Ten action to highlight Michigan on the doubles court.
• Michigan has won 16 straight regular-season conference matches, with its last loss coming to Northwestern (4-3) April 8, 2018.
• U-M features a pair of ranked singles players in No. 71 Andrea Cerdan, who earned All-Big Ten honors last year, and No. 101 Alyvia Jones.
• Indiana (0-2, 0-2 B1G) is coming off a 7-0 shutout at the hands of Ohio State after dropping a 4-3 decision to Penn State to begin the season. Saturday will mark the first meeting between Indiana and Michigan since the teams faced off twice during the 2016-17 season, with Michigan recording a pair of 4-0 shutouts. U-M has won 13 of its last 14 matches against the Hoosiers.
• Purdue (1-1, 1-1 B1G) split its opening-weekend matches, knocking off Penn State after falling to Ohio State in the season opener. U-M leads the all-time series against Purdue, 44-12, most recently sweeping a pair of matches against the Boilers during the 2018-19 season. Purdue will host Michigan State prior to welcoming Michigan.
Last Time Out
Michigan completed a 2-0 weekend with a 5-2 win over Maryland. U-M won the doubles point for the second straight match and won the first four singles matches off court to record the final margin.
