U-M won the doubles point for the second straight match, getting wins at No. 1 and No. 2 to seal the first point of the match.
Michigan struck early at the top spot, as graduate student Chiara Lommer and freshman Jaedan Brown broke for a 2-1 lead en route to a 4-1 advantage. That was all the space the pair needed as both teams held serve over the next three games for a 6-2 Michigan win.
At No. 2, senior Alyvia Jones and freshman Kari Miller broke for a 5-4 lead and held a pair of match points in the next game that they did not convert. U-M once again broke Maryland in the next game, with Miller serving out the match in the ensuing game for a 7-5 win.
Freshman Gala Mesochoritou made quick work of her opponent at No. 4, dropping just two games in a 6-0, 6-2 win to push the Michigan advantage to 2-0.
