
Wolverines Ink Seven To NLIs for 2021-22

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The University of Michigan women's swimming and diving program announced the signings of seven prep standouts to National Letters of Intent for the 2021-22 season on Friday (Nov. 13). The signees include Chrismon Clark (Columbia, S.C.), Lindsay Flynn (Matthews, N.C.), Greta Gidley (Farmington Hills, Mich.), Evie Johnson (Winchester, England), Abbey Ketslakh (Ann Arbor, Mich.), Kathryn Shanley (Littleton, Colo.) and Letitia Sim (Spanish Fort, Ala.).
"This group that's coming in is very well-balanced," said head coach Mike Bottom. "They're very fast already and will add depth to several areas of our team, particularly in sprint freestyle. This team has many opportunities to expand and get better. We're very excited about this group and look forward to having them with us next fall."
"Chrismon and Evie are both powerful divers," added diving coach Mike Hilde. "Our goal is to have the top diving program in the Big Ten. Having Chrismon and Evie on board will add to our depth and give us the extra boost we need to help reach that goal."
Chrismon Clark | Diving | Columbia, S.C. (Saint Mary's School/Red Wolf Elite Diving)
Clark is mostly a springboard diver. She is a seven-time USA Diving Junior National Championships qualifier, making five semifinals and one final. Clark qualified for the 2019 USA Diving Senior National Championships, finishing 18th on one-meter.

Lindsay Flynn | Freestyle | Matthews, N.C. (Charlotte Latin School/Mecklenburg Swim Association)
Flynn is one of the best sprinters in the entire class. She is a six-time NCISAA State Championship finalist, winning the 50-yard freestyle and 100-yard freestyle earlier this year. Flynn won silver medals in the 50- and 100-meter freestyles at the 2019 Speedo Winter Junior National Championships and won bronze in the 50-meter freestyle at the 2019 Junior National Championships. She is also a 2021 U.S. Olympic Trials qualifier.

Greta Gidley | Freestyle | Farmington Hills, Mich. (Mercy/Atlantis Swimming)
Gidley is primarily a sprinter who can also swim the IMs. She is a nine-time All-State selection, winning the 100-yard freestyle and taking second in the 200-yard IM at the 2019 MHSAA Girls D-I State Championships. In long course, Gidley set PRs in both the 50-meter freestyle and 200-meter freestyle at the 2019 Speedo Junior National Championships. In April 2019, she was a two-time finalist at the YMCA Short Course National Championships, winning a bronze medal in the 200-yard IM.

Evie Johnson | Diving | Winchester, England (Peter Symonds Sixth Form College/Southampton Diving Academy)
Johnson is mostly a springboard diver. Earlier this year, Johnson took sixth on three-meter (244.85) and 16th on one-meter at the 2020 British National Diving Championships. She is a two-time finalist at the 2019 Junior Elite National Diving Championships. In 2019, Johnson was champion on three-meter and platform for Group A at the Scottish National and Open Diving Championships. In 2018, she was three-meter synchro and platform champion for Group A at the Barcelona International Diving Championships.

Abbey Ketslakh | Freestyle | Ann Arbor, Mich. (Huron/Club Wolverine)
Ketslakh is a local product, specializing in sprint freestyle for Huron High School and Club Wolverine. At the 2018 MHSAA D-I State Championships, she was a finalist in the 100-yard freestyle, finishing seventh, also placing 13th in the 200-yard freestyle. At the 2019 Winter Juniors East, Ketslakh established lifetime bests in three events (50 FR, 100 FR, 100 FL). Additionally, she is a Michigan state record-holder (as part of a relay) and is a two-time USA Swimming Scholastic All-American.

Kathryn Shanley | Distance | Littleton, Colo. (Chatfield/Foothills Swim Club)
Shanley is primarily a distance freestyle swimmer. She is a four-time Colorado state champion, including wins in the 200-yard freestyle and 500-yard freestyle at the 2020 Colorado 5A State Championships. Shanley took third in the 1,650-yard freestyle at the 2019 Speedo Winter Junior Championships (West). In long course, she was champion in the 1,500-meter freestyle and finaled in four other events at the 2019 Speedo Champions Series at Mount Hood. Shanley is a three-time USA Swimming Scholastic All-American and three-time NISCA All-American.

Letitia Sim | Breaststroke | Spanish Fort, Ala. (Baldwin County Virtual School/TNT Swimming)
Sim is one of the top breaststroke swimmers in the class. She is a two-time Alabama state champion, winning the 100-yard breaststroke and 200-yard IM in 2018. Sim holds Alabama state records in both events. Additionally, she was a three-time finalist at the 2019 Speedo Winter Junior Championships (East), including a second-place finish in the 100-yard breaststroke and a third-place finish in the 200-yard breaststroke. Sim is a 2021 U.S. Olympic Trials qualifier in both breaststroke events.
