ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The University of Michigan men's gymnastics team defeated No. 18 Illinois-Chicago, 406.200-367.500, on Saturday (March 30) on Senior Day inside Cliff Keen Arena. The Wolverines led wire-to-wire, sweeping all six events to defeat the Flames.
Sophomore Jacob Moore took home the event floor exercise title with a 14.700, after coming into the meet ranked second in the nation on the apparatus.
Sophomore Cameron Bock captured the event titles on pommel horse (13.900) and high bar (13.650) while also winning the all-around crown (83.400).
Redshirt senior Marty Strech took the win on still rings with a score of 14.300, followed by strong performances in the event from junior Ryan Dunning (14.100) and freshman James Read (13.900).
The Wolverines' success continued on vault with junior Emyre Cole winning the event with a 14.650, followed by a second-place finish from senior Anthony McCallum (14.550) and a third-place finish by Strech (14.200).
Michigan continued its event success with senior Matthew Whitaker earning the win and a new personal best on parallel bars (14.150). Bock and Cole finished tied for second in the event with matching 14.100 scores.
With the regular season completed, the Wolverines look ahead to the postseason. Next up for Michigan will be the Big Ten Championships team and all-around finals on Saturday (April 5) at 7 p.m. CDT in Iowa City, Iowa.
