
Michigan to Conclude Five-Match Homestand with Baylor

The University of Michigan women's tennis team (4-2) wraps up a five-match homestand on Friday (March 1), welcoming Baylor (5-8) to the Varsity Tennis Center. The match will begin at 5 p.m. and admission is free.
Wolverine Bites
• The Maize and Blue is wrapping up a five-match homestand that featured Michigan State, No. 9 Texas, No. 17 Pepperdine, No. 1 North Carolina and Baylor. Michigan is now 3-1 at the VTC this season and 125-13 at home under 12th-year head coach Ronni Bernstein.
• The Wolverines are back in the top 25 after splitting a pair of matches against No. 17 Pepperdine and No. 1 North Carolina. U-M comes in at No. 21 in this week's Oracle/ITA Rankings. The rankings have switched from a poll to a computer ranking for the rest of the season.
• Sophomore Alyvia Jones has hit her stride in dual-match action for the Maize and Blue, winning her last four singles matches to move her record over .500 for the season (10-7). Jones is coming off a 2-0 weekend with a pair of wins at No. 5 over Pepperdine's Dzina Milovanic to clinch the match and a victory over North Carolina's Alle Sanford, ranked No. 122.
• Baylor (5-8) comes to Ann Arbor having lost its last seven matches. The Bears have one ranked singles player in No. 67 Livia Kraus. Michigan leads the all-time series against Baylor, 4-2, after the Bears won in Waco, Texas, last season.Â
• U-M is 4-0 this season when it wins the doubles point, getting victories over Ole Miss, Michigan State, Texas and Pepperdine when securing the match's first point. Michigan is 3-1 at both No. 1 and No. 3 during dual matches, with Kate Fahey and Giulia Pairone teaming up at No. 1 and Bella Lorenzini and Chiara Lommer playing at No. 3.
• The Wolverines have four non-conference matches remaining, coming against Baylor, No. 3 Duke, No. 20 Virginia and Florida. Michigan will face Baylor and Virginia at home, Duke at the USTA National Campus and Florida on the road.
• Michigan features four ranked singles players in No. 8 Kate Fahey, No. 21 Chiara Lommer, No. 31 Brienne Minor and No. 85 Giulia Pairone. Fahey and Minor team up to form the No. 24-ranked doubles team.
• Senior Kate Fahey heads into the match with a 21-5 singles record this season. Fahey swept the titles at the ITA Midwest Regional Championship and finished as the singles runner-up at the ITA Fall National Championships. Fahey is 115-28 in singles during her illustrious career, putting her fourth all-time in wins. Fahey is closing in on volunteer assistant Ronit Yurovsky's third-place total of 117. Fahey's .803 winning percentage is tops in Michigan history. Emina Bektas (129) and Sarah Lee (125) occupy the top two spots on the all-time wins list.
• Michigan will head outdoors and travel to Orlando, Florida, for spring break. The Wolverines will depart for the Sunshine State on Tuesday (March 5) for a few days of training outside before facing Duke on Saturday, March 9. The teams will face off at the USTA National Campus at noon.
